Puerto Salvador Allende (Salvador Allende Port), Managua
Salvador Allende Port was inaugurated in 2008 and is named after the former Chilean president, Salvador Allende. The area is a boulevard along the shores of Lake Xolotlán (Lake Managua) and features a boat dock. Visitors can find various restaurants, bars, pubs, and other attractions here. The port is especially lively on weekend nights when many locals visit to unwind.
There is a permanent photographic exhibition that showcases the history of the lake. You can also take a boat ride from the port, which offers beautiful views of the city of Managua and takes you to the Island of Love.
The pier has been revitalized by the Puerto Salvador Allende complex and becomes particularly active in the evenings, especially on weekends. The area features several restaurants, bars, and food stalls, along with illuminated 'trees of life' and various family-friendly attractions like a scale replica of Av Bolívar before the 1972 earthquake, a water park, a Boeing 737 for kids to explore, replicas of Nicaragua's famous churches, and two small museums.
