Acuario Michin Guadalajara (Michin Aquarium), Guadalajara (must see)
The Acuario Michin Guadalajara, or Michin Aquarium, is an aquarium near the Parque Alcalde in Guadalajara. The aquarium has nearly 10,000 live organisms on display, for research and as part of conservation efforts.
The aquarium has five pavilions with distinct animals and environments. The Wixarika Pavilion is home to freshwater species, reptiles and amphibians. The Maya Pavilion offers a glimpse into the fish of the coral reef while the Olmeca Pavilion shows the sharks and schooling fish of the Gulf of Mexico.
The Konkaak Pavilion focuses on the creatures of the Pacific. The Mixteca Pavilion is where visitors will find land animals. Some of the animals in Mixteca include parakeets, otters, goats, sheep and crocodiles.
A full access ticket to the aquarium includes interactive games and challenges, an obstacle course, a climbing wall, video games and laser tag. Visitors also have the opportunity to feed birds and watch crocodile feedings. The Acuario Michin Guadalajara is open from 11 AM to 7 PM seven days per week.
