André Art Gallery, Sao Paulo

André Art Gallery, Sao Paulo

Founded in 1959 by André Blau, a Romanian immigrant, Galeria de Arte André has been an active participant in the Brazilian art market for over six decades. Initially located at Avenida Vieira de Carvalho in São Paulo's Center, the gallery later moved to Alameda Gabriel Monteiro da Silva in 1988, exclusively showcasing three-dimensional art. Today, it is situated in Jardins, at the intersection of Rebouças Avenue, Estados Unidos Street, and Alameda Gabriel Monteiro da Silva. The gallery's headquarters, adorned with expansive shop windows framed by striking red structures, was inaugurated in 1982 with a solo exhibition by Fulvio Pennacchi.

Under Juliana Blau's guidance, the André Art Gallery thrives in its rich history and connection to Brazilian art. It supports emerging artists who align with contemporary movements and styles. With a diverse collection spanning painting, sculpture, prints, drawings, and photography, the gallery actively acquires complementary artworks. Renowned experts curate comprehensive exhibitions, producing catalogs and exclusive digital content to showcase their commitment.

The André Art Gallery embraces diverse art styles, including hyper-realism, surrealism, the fantastic, and the naive/spontaneous. It features academic, abstract, and international artworks, with a focus on Japanese-Brazilian and Santa Helena artists. Traditional genres like landscapes, still life, and portraiture are well-represented. The collection also honors modernism's legacy.
