Anne Frankplantsoen (Anne Frank Public Garden), Eindhoven

The Anne Frank Public Garden (Anne Frankplantsoen) is a serene green space in the heart of Eindhoven. Named in memory of Anne Frank, the park serves as a place of reflection and remembrance, honoring the Jewish victims of World War II. It is situated along the Dommel River and is adorned with exotic trees, creating a tranquil atmosphere within the bustling city center.

Adjacent to the park is the Lex and Edo Hornemannplantsoen, home to the Gebroeders Hornemann monument, which commemorates the Hornemann brothers, Jewish victims of the Holocaust. This connection reinforces the park’s role as a site of remembrance and historical significance.

The park is also notable for its Anne Frank monument, designed by Dutch sculptor Theo van Brunschot and unveiled on May 4, 1990. Made of Vanga granite and bronze, the memorial features a bronze plaque with Anne Frank’s image and an inscription honoring the 304 Jewish men, women, and children from Eindhoven who were persecuted and killed between 1940 and 1945. Visitors can follow the Jewish tradition of placing a stone in the bowl of a small column as a gesture of remembrance.

Today, the Anne Frank Public Garden continues to be a place of reflection, history, and natural beauty, inviting locals and visitors to remember the past while appreciating the peaceful surroundings.
