Auckland Harbour Bridge, Auckland

Auckland Harbour Bridge, Auckland

Auckland Harbour Bridge is one of the city’s landmarks, connecting Saint Mary’s Bay with Northcote, and it is the second longest road bridge in NZ. Since its completion in 1959, it has drawn some criticism for resembling that other great harbour crossing bridge in Sydney rather too closely. For visitors to the city, one of the best views of Auckland is to be had from the top of the construction. The bridge climb is one of only three bridge climbs of its kind in the world and the only one in New Zealand. The exhilarating climbing experience takes around 1 ½ hours and guides you safely to the pinnacle of the bridge for stunning 360-degree views out over Auckland.

For those who don’t like their adrenaline shots in half measures, the bridge is also the location of the world’s first bridge bungee jumping opportunity. There are various packages and combinations available, but the most popular option is the “water touch” bungee jump. The extreme activities that are offered at the Auckland Harbour Bridge are amongst the most exciting on offer in the city and provide an experience that you will never forget.

Why You Should Visit:
Well worth a visit for the exercise alone; moreover, the 360-degree views from the top middle of the bridge are spectacular and one can see as far as the human eye can see.

Tip:
You're not allowed to bring your camera, so you can forget about that! If you want photos, you will have to buy copies of the photos taken by your guide.
Please note, also, that the age limit for children to climb the bridge is 7, height 120cm, BUT the minimum weight limit is 35kg. Please make sure your child is over that weight, or they won't be allowed on the walk.
