Auditorio Guelaguetza (Guelaguetza Auditorium), Oaxaca
Auditorio Guelaguetza (Guelaguetza Auditorium) is the main performance venue in Oaxaca and considered among the main ones in Mexico by various specialized media, was built at the request of Governor Fernando Gómez Sandoval, this building being an outdoor stage. In 2008 work began, culminating in 2010 to offer quality events such as music, art, theater and dance concerts among other genres.
Every year during the last two Mondays of the month of July, the Guelaguetza known as Fiesta de los Lunes del Cerro is celebrated, where all the regions of the state show their best dances in the Guelaguetza Auditorium where you can appreciate a wonderful panoramic view of the city. The festivities of "Monday of the Hill" adopt the popular term of "La Guelaguetza", because the regional delegations usually bring, to give away among the public; craft products, fruits and drinks, in addition to their music and dances.
As part of these celebrations and since 1968, each delegation presents a candidate for the title of the goddess Centeotl, the chosen one is publicly invested and presides over the festivities that have been held since 1974 in the Cerro del Fortín auditorium. The Guelaguetza show is presented twice a day, that is, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, so that all tourists and Oaxacans can admire the dances of the different delegations.
