Aviation Museum Hannover-Laatzen, Hanover

The Aviation Museum Hannover-Laatzen (Luftfahrtmuseum Hannover-Laatzen) is a permanent exhibition located in Laatzen that delves into the history of aviation. This exhibition spans an area of 3,500 square meters and showcases a remarkable collection, including 38 airplanes, over 800 aircraft models, and more than 30 aircraft engines.

Visitors to the museum can explore a wide variety of exhibits, ranging from an original Jumo 004A, one of the pioneering jet engines in history, to iconic aircraft like the Focke-Wulf Fw 190, Messerschmitt Bf 109, and Supermarine Spitfire. The collection also encompasses postwar era aircraft such as the MiG-15, F-104, and An-2, representing both civilian and military aviation.

Beyond the aircraft themselves, the museum displays numerous everyday items like vehicles and clothing, offering a glimpse into the broader context of aviation history. The exhibition places particular emphasis on several key themes, including the early days of aviation, the courage of pioneering pilots, the dramatic salvage operation of the Ju 52 aircraft in the Arctic Circle, the evolution of gliding, and the contributions of women in aviation.

The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged in chronological order, beginning with the inception of aviation and concluding with the developments in modern civil aviation.
