Bank of the West Tower, Sacramento

The Bank of the West Tower, also known as Five Hundred Capitol Mall, is a notable skyscraper located in downtown Sacramento. This 25-story building spans 433,508 square feet (40,274.2 square meters) and includes a substantial 10-level parking garage capable of accommodating 800 vehicles. It features a diverse range of spaces including a grand 5-story atrium/lobby, ground-floor retail outlets, ample office space, and a 2-level penthouse that serves as either a restaurant or meeting facility.

The architecture of the tower is distinguished by its steel frame construction and an elegant exterior adorned with granite curtain walls along with stone-on-precast and stone-on-truss panels. This blend of materials contributes to its imposing yet sophisticated facade.

Originally opened on May 26, 2009, the building initially bore the name Bank of the West Tower due to the presence of a Bank of the West branch on the ground floor. In 2023, following the acquisition of Bank of the West by BMO Bank, the building was renamed BMO Tower. This renaming marks a new chapter in the building’s history, reflecting its evolving role in the local commercial landscape.
