Barberian's Steak House, Toronto

Barberian's Steak House, situated in downtown Toronto, can be found on Elm Street, conveniently close to Yonge–Dundas Square. Established in 1959 by Harry Barberian, the restaurant is presently owned by his son, Arron Barberian. Within its premises, there are two primary dining rooms, two private dining rooms, and a remarkable two-story underground wine cellar that accommodates an impressive collection of over 20,000 bottles. The wine cellar features towering 6.7-meter (22 feet) racks, adorned with exquisite antique chandeliers, and even houses a special dining table for exclusive gatherings.

Harry Barberian, who hailed from a family of Armenian refugee parents, was the youngest of four siblings. Before venturing into his restaurant, he gained experience as a manager-chef at Le Baron Steakhouse. Eventually, Barberian purchased a cottage on Elm Street, thus laying the foundation for his very own establishment.

Arron Barberian, the current proprietor, has been overseeing the operations of the restaurant since 1993. At that time, his family regained majority control of the business, two decades after his father, Harry, had sold off a significant portion of his ownership and retired. Under the guidance of Arron Barberian, the restaurant experienced expansion, notably with the construction of the remarkable wine cellar.

In 2014, Barberian's introduced a delightful spin-off sandwich shop called TLP Sandwich Co. The sandwich shop is located just a few doors away from the main restaurant. The menu at TLP Sandwich Co. offers a delectable selection of sandwiches, including steak sandwiches, peameal bacon sandwiches, a chicken-thigh club, and a fried-calamari sub, among other tantalizing options.
