Bethesda-By-The Sea Church, West Palm Beach
The Bethesda-By-The Sea Church is a Spanish Gothic place of worship that features stunning stained glass windows, impressive works of art, a 6,000 pipe organ, and an altar carved from limestone. The beauty of the stained glass work that depicts apostles, bishops, and patron saints can only truly be appreciated in person. At the time of its construction, it was the first protestant church in Southeast Florida.
The works of Louis Comfort Tiffany, James Powell and Sons’, Heinigke and Smith, and G. Owen Bonawit are just a few of the beautiful glass designs that visitors will enjoy. Other works of art include a Renaissance altarpiece and a mosaic in the Chapel of Christ the King.
The first church on the site was built in 1889 and the second in 1894. Construction on the current building began in 1925 and was completed in 1927. Bethesda was the location of the 2005 wedding of Donald Trump and Melania Knauss.
This historically important church is located on South County Road at Barton Avenue. Guided tours are available of the church and the nearby Cluett Memorial Garden on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month after the 11 am services. Sunday Services are at 8 am, 9 am, and 11 am.
