Biblioteca Municipal de Bidebarrieta (Bidebarrieta Municipal Library), Bilbao

The Bidebarrieta Municipal Library (Biblioteca Municipal de Bidebarrieta) is a library located in the Casco Viejo of the town of Bilbao. It was designed in an eclectic style by the Bilbao architect Severino Achúcarro.

The building, a clear exponent of eclecticism , was built between 1888 and 1890 by the Bilbao architect Severino de Achúcarro as the headquarters of the recreational-cultural society "El Sitio", founded in honor of the defenders of Bilbao during the Carlist wars, becoming Being a library since 1956.

The Bilbao floods of 1983 seriously damaged it, which is why it was closed for five years, reopening in 1988.

In July 2015, and during the following months, a process of rehabilitation of the main façade of the building began.
