Botanical Garden, Chisinau

Chisinau Botanical Garden is a popular tourist destination located in the Botanica area of the city. Established in 1950 on the outskirts of the city, the garden was relocated to its current location in 1964. The garden is spread over an area of 104 hectares, with various sectors dedicated to different types of flora and fauna.

The garden is divided into several sectors, including an arboretum that features a variety of trees and shrubs that are typical to the flora of Moldova. There is also a floriculture sector, which features a range of tropical and subtropical plants. The majority of the garden is dedicated to the experimental site and hybridization sector.

Visitors to the garden can enjoy several beautifully landscaped areas, including a rock garden, a rose garden, a shaped garden, an iridarium, and a pionarium. There are also several galleries, gardens, and swimming pools that provide a comfortable and cool environment for visitors.

The garden is home to various types of birds, including wild ducks, blackbirds, and pigeons. Visitors can also see the relief of the entire country of Moldova in miniature, as well as the representation of its 24 types of soil. Additionally, there are four artificial lakes within the garden that are used to water the plants.

With over 10,000 varieties of vegetation, the garden boasts one of the most extensive herbaria in the country, the Republican Herbarium, which has 200,000 sheets. The garden also actively works to create valuable populations of walnut and grape hybrids.
