Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Brisbane (must see)
The Brisbane Botanic Gardens can be found approximately 7 kilometers away from downtown Brisbane, situated in Toowong, near the base of Mount Coot-tha, which is the tallest mountain in the Brisbane area.
These gardens, initially named the Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, occupy a sprawling 52-hectare area. They were established by the Brisbane City Council back in 1970 and officially opened to the public in 1976. Notably, these gardens are the second botanical gardens to be established in Brisbane, with the original ones, now known as the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, located in the Brisbane CBD at Gardens Point. The decision to create these new gardens was made by the City Council due to limitations in expanding the original site, which was also susceptible to flooding.
The Brisbane Botanic Gardens offer a variety of attractions, including the Tropical Display Dome (inaugurated in December 1977, measuring 28 meters in diameter and 9 meters in height), a Japanese Garden, Bonsai House, Fern House, Arid Zone and Cactus House, Exotic Rainforest, Australian Rainforest, Fragrant Plant and Herb Garden, Temperate Garden, Lagoon and Bamboo Grove, Australian Plant communities, and the National Freedom Wall.
