Cargo Club (Red & Blue), Antwerp

Cargo Club, formerly known as Red & Blue, is an iconic dance club and a celebrated gay institution in Antwerp. Since its opening in November 1997, it has been under the same ownership and has established itself as northern Europe's premier gay dance venue. The club, known for its expansive single-room layout, offers an industrial ambiance that adds to its unique charm. It features renowned DJs who play mostly house music until the early morning hours.

Historically, Red & Blue was famed for hosting the only weekly male-only dance party in Belgium, which occurred every few Saturdays. These events were highlighted by performances from go-go boys, international guests, and occasional erotic shows, embodying the vibrant and spirited nature of Antwerp's nightlife. While these parties are no longer a weekly occurrence, they continue to be a significant aspect of the club's offerings.

On Thursdays, the club reverts to its roots with nights named after its former identity, Red & Blue, where students predominantly take over the dance floor. Although Cargo Club now appeals more to a mixed crowd, the Red & Blue label persists in various events, signifying a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for the gay and queer communities.

In early 2017, the club underwent a rebranding from Red & Blue to Cargo Club. The club continues to be a beacon for inclusive and exuberant nightlife in Antwerp, holding onto its legacy as a hotspot for the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.
