Carrousel de la Place Gutenberg, Strasbourg

Carrousel de la Place Gutenberg, Strasbourg

The Carousel of Place Gutenberg in Strasbourg, which seems to have been magically placed, has been around for more than thirty years. It's not exactly old, but it's not young either; it carries its three decades gracefully and maintains an impressive appearance. This carousel stands out because of its unique faceted panels. Looking upwards, one can see depictions of the Republican calendar, created during the time of the French Revolution.

Typically, the carousel springs to life after Easter, coinciding with the emergence of the first signs of spring. Its spinning continues uninterrupted until November, when the tree leaves have taken on a rich orange hue. While it serves as a representation of the local history of Strasbourg and its people, the carousel's architectural design also plays a significant role in this regard.

Taking a moment to pause in front of the carousel allows one to appreciate its intricately designed horses, stork, and even a charming pink car, contributing to the carousel's distinctive character. Notably, this pink car, easily distinguishable among others, holds a unique backstory. It was discovered at a flea market and dates back to 1930.

No matter your age or your choice of accommodation within Strasbourg's Diana Hotels Collection group, consider indulging your inner child and taking a spin on the Carousel at Place Gutenberg.
