Casa Museo López Portillo (López Portillo House Museum), Guadalajara

The López Portillo House Museum is an elegant 18th-century historic house turned cultural center. Originally built in the late 1700s and later remodeled in French Neoclassical style, this stately mansion was home to several generations of the López Portillo family, including governors and historians. The city acquired it in 1979 and opened it as a museum on May 10, 1982-honoring its heritage and debuting as Guadalajara’s only historic house museum.

Inside, nine beautifully preserved rooms showcase European furniture, decorative arts, and artwork from the 18th to early 20th centuries. Visitors can admire Rococo-style pieces, fine porcelains, oil paintings, and elegant period details that reflect the lifestyle of elite families during colonial and early modern Mexico .

The museum also houses a small gallery-Gabriel Flores Gallery-featuring rotating exhibitions, plus a dedicated music room that hosts recitals, lectures, and workshops.
