Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Petersburg
Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady is a Roman Catholic cathedral located on 1-ja Krasnoarmejskaja Street. It was founded between 1870 and 1873 and designed by the architects V. I. Sobol'wikov and E. S. Vorotilov. During the years of war, the building was severely damaged and later closed. In the 1990s reconstruction work began and the church was returned to the community. The church has the shape of a Latin cross. It boasts a superb iconostasis and relics of the holy Apostles Peter, John, Thaddeus, Andrew, and Paul, as well as saints Adalbert and Zeno.
