Centrale Restaurant and Bar, Beirut

Centrale Restaurant and Bar, Beirut

Centrale Restaurant and Bar in Beirut is a distinctive venue known for its unique architecture and vibrant atmosphere. Opened in August 2001, this establishment is housed in a renovated early 20th-century traditional house, blending historical charm with modern sophistication. The renovation took two years, resulting in a space that beautifully marries old and new.

On the ground floor, guests are greeted by the restaurant section of Centrale, where French Chef Mickael Gantner showcases his culinary prowess. The menu at Centrale focuses on French cuisine, with dishes that change seasonally in spring and autumn to make the most of fresh, seasonal produce. The restaurant also boasts an impressive wine cellar, which is home to over 1,500 bottles, providing a rich selection that complements the menu.

Adding to the allure of the ground floor is the garden area, which remains open throughout the year. It is a delightful space surrounded by fragrant gardenias and honeysuckle, with climate control that adapts to the seasons—air-conditioned in the sweltering summer months and heated and covered during the chilly winter.

The architectural highlight of Centrale is undoubtedly the bar located on the first floor, housed within a long metal tube. This structure features a retractable roof that opens up at night to reveal the breathtaking night sky. This setup not only offers great views but also enhances the experience with its lounge ambiance, energized further by excellent music and a different DJ every night.
