Chelsea Tower, Dubai
Of all Dubai’s skyscrapers, the Chelsea Tower, on Sheik Zayed Road, is the most easily recognized land mark due to its two wings joining on top of the building to form a square aperture with a 40 meter high concrete needle suspended in the centre.
The tower is 250 metres high and the 5th tallest building in Dubai. It is built of concrete and steel, with a curtain wall façade of blue and white glass, the white forming an eye-catching diagonal from the ground to an apex at 230 metres.
The building’s 49 floors contain some of the best appart/hotel suites in the city, offering one, two or three bedroom residences with separate dining and living areas, bathroom with a hair dryer and soft bathrobes, a fully equipped kitchen area with a washing machine and dryer. The living area is equipped with a flat-screen television, a DVD and CD player and iPod docking station. On one side of the building you have wonderful views of the Arabian Gulf and Jumeirah beaches, on the other side you can look out over the city.
The tower boasts three swimming pools (one for children), saunas, steams rooms, a spa, a gym and a Health Club. It also has restaurants, where you can sample excellent traditional food or choose from an international menu. There is a coffee shop and a café.

The Maktoum family, Dubai's current rulers, took over the reigns in 1883. The discovery of oil in 1966 set the change for a shift away from reliance on the marine industry.
