Cliff's Amusement Park, Albuquerque
Opened in 1959, Cliff's Amusement Park is a combination amusement and water park situated in Albuquerque. Originally known as Uncle Cliff's Amusement Park until 1991, it offers 24 rides suitable for all ages, carnival-style games, and a wide range of food options. Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, visitors can also enjoy WaterMania, a popular water attraction. Additionally, it boasts the only wooden-hybrid roller coaster in New Mexico, called the New Mexico Rattler, which was Custom Coasters International's final coaster design.
Cliff and Zella Hammond started their venture in 1959 by building a small kiddie park named Uncle Cliff's Kiddieland located at 7600 Lomas Blvd. The park faced opposition from neighbors, and they moved to Little Beavertown in Tijeras Canyon, outside Albuquerque. However, this was only a temporary solution.
In 1963, Cliff's Amusement Park relocated to its present location at Osuna Road Northeast, which was then situated on the outskirts of Albuquerque. As the company expanded and added more significant attractions, the emphasis on the word "Kiddie" was dropped, and the park was renamed Cliff's Amusement Park.
