Cuartel San Carlos, Caracas

Built in the 17th century, Cuartel San Carlos was famous as a control point of traffic and goods, which later became a prison. In 1839, the building was renovated by the local mayor, and about a century later it became a National Monument. It is now a museum that details the history of the place.
