Diamond Exchange District, Tel Aviv
The Diamond Exchange District, situated in Ramat Gan within the Tel Aviv District, is renowned for being the central zone of Israel's diamond industry and a significant commercial hub. By 2019, this area boasted around 1.1 million square meters of space for business and residential use, contributing to 60% of the municipal income of Ramat Gan.
At the heart of this district is the Israel Diamond Exchange, encompassing four interconnected buildings: the Maccabi, Shimshon, Noam, and Diamond Towers. The Diamond Tower is particularly notable for housing the largest diamond trading floor globally and serving as the primary building of the exchange. The district also features other key structures like the Moshe Aviv Tower, Israel's second-highest building at 235 meters, the Sheraton City Tower hotel, and additional buildings like the Ayalon Tower and Gibor Sport House. Moreover, there's a pedestrian bridge linking Tel Aviv's Central railway station to this district.
A highlight of the area is the Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Museum, which showcases replicas of famous diamonds worldwide. These include the Koh-i-Noor Diamond, currently part of the British King's crown, the diamond Richard Burton gifted Elizabeth Taylor on her 40th birthday, and unique items like a diamond-filled hourglass, a diamond-encrusted tennis ball, and diamond-laden brooches with Biblical themes.
