Draakoni Gallery, Tallinn
Draakon Gallery was established in 1983, initially focusing on showcasing the artworks of members belonging to the Association of Printmakers. Following 1990, when the gallery ceased to host exhibitions, it transitioned into a commercial establishment specializing in the sale of paintings, printmaking, and applied art. Then, in early 2003, Draakon Gallery made a resurgence by resuming its exhibition program, featuring the works of both Estonian and foreign artists. The revitalized gallery now offers contemporary art for sale, while its cellar space showcases high-quality contemporary Estonian painting, as well as the creations of emerging painters, printmakers, and photographers.
Draakon Gallery places a primary emphasis on organizing both non-profit and commercial exhibitions of contemporary art. It dedicates itself to presenting solo exhibitions by some of Estonia's most prominent artists, while also serving as a platform for emerging talents. Additionally, sub-associations have the opportunity to utilize the gallery's space for their activities.
Over the years, Draakon Gallery has played a pivotal role in launching the careers of many artists, both locally and internationally. Numerous renowned artists have held exhibitions at Draakon Gallery, which they consider to have had a significant impact on their creative journeys. These exhibitions have garnered recognition through various awards and nominations, including the Konrad Mäe Prize, Kristjan Raud Prize, Estonian Cultural Endowment Prizes, among others.
