Ejido Park, Quito

Ejido Park, Quito

El Ejido Park is a lush public green space that boasts an impressive collection of plants and trees native to the inter-Andean region. The park's boundaries are Patria avenues to the north, Tarqui to the south, 10 de Agosto to the west and 6 de Diciembre to the east.

Visitors to the park can enjoy the natural beauty of over 1,470 species of plants, including the cholán, alder, chamburo, coco cumbi and guabo, which are all native to the inter-Andean region. In addition, the park is home to a diverse range of tree species, including acacia, white brush, cedar, arupo, cypress, yalomán, eucalyptus, walnut, cedrillo, red pine, plane tree, poplar, capulí, pyramidal willow, and linden.

El Ejido is also home to a significant number of heritage trees, which are trees with more than a hundred years of life. These trees are considered to be an important part of the city's cultural heritage, and they serve as a living reminder of the city's history.

The park's layout is typical of European urbanism from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The paths within the park are curved and asymmetrical, leading to an eccentric circle at the center of the land. This design links the interior of the park's green and landscaped area with the four road arteries that delimit its trapezoidal shape.
