Exchange Plaza, Perth
Exchange Plaza in Perth is the State headquarters of the Australian Securities Exchange. Its construction, initiated during the 1980s property boom, reflects the era's ambition and economic prosperity. The project was brought to life by Multiplex, a notable name in construction, with the building reaching its completion in 1992 after topping out in mid-1991.
Designed by the architectural firm Peddle Thorp & Walker, Exchange Plaza is a testament to modern architectural principles, featuring a steel frame and pre-cast concrete floor panels. Its exterior is distinguished by fully glazed curtain walls, which elegantly step back at the building's upper levels, offering a visually striking façade. A unique feature of the building is its one-off batch of blue glass, produced specifically for this project by Pilkingtons Australia, contributing to the building's distinct appearance and ambiance.
The Plaza is not only a hub for financial and business activities but also a center for conferences and meetings, housing a 150-seat conference centre within its structure. It offers unparalleled views of Perth Water and extends westward all the way to Rottnest Island, providing a scenic backdrop that enhances its appeal as a premium office location.
With 34,479 square meters (371,130 square feet) of net lettable area spread across 33 commercial office levels, Exchange Plaza offers substantial space for various businesses and enterprises. The building's functionality is further enhanced by its three plant floor levels and five levels of basement parking, accommodating up to 236 vehicles. This combination of strategic location, architectural excellence, and comprehensive facilities makes Exchange Plaza a central figure in Perth's commercial landscape.
