Form Design Center, Malmo

The Form/Design Center in Malmö stands as the foremost platform for architecture, design, and crafts in southern Sweden. Since its establishment in 1964 as part of the non-profit association Svensk Form, the center has grown to become a hub for creative exchange, cross-disciplinary collaborations, and a meeting place for both professionals and the general public. Located at the historic Hedmanska Gården by Lilla Torg since 1974, the center is an inclusive space that targets a broad audience of all ages.

The Form/Design Center operates with support from the Ministry of Culture, the City of Malmö, Region Skåne, and the Swedish Arts Council. In 2018, it was designated as a national node for a designed living environment by the Swedish government. Its primary goal is to increase awareness and understanding of the design of the spaces in which people live, work, and interact. Through exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and various program activities, the center seeks to inspire and educate the public while serving as a platform for industry professionals.

Over the years, the center has hosted more than 1,200 exhibitions and numerous events that showcase the latest in design and architecture, foster critical dialogue, and explore sustainable development models. The building also features a shop and a café, further enhancing its role as a vibrant space for knowledge-sharing and creativity.

With a strong focus on sustainability and innovation, the Form/Design Center collaborates closely with the public sector, academia, and businesses to generate new perspectives on design and contribute to societal development. As a unique knowledge resource, the center continues to play a significant role in shaping the future of architecture and design in Sweden and beyond.
