Founder's Memorial, Abu Dhabi

The Founder's Memorial in Abu Dhabi stands as a testament to the remarkable life and achievements of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the visionary leader who played a pivotal role in the formation of the United Arab Emirates. This monument and visitor center commemorates Sheikh Zayed, who served as the first President of the UAE for over three decades until his passing in 2004.

The Founder's Memorial features a captivating design that highlights Sheikh Zayed's legacy. The monument comprises two main sections: the open Heritage Garden and the Sanctuary Garden. At the heart of the Sanctuary Garden, visitors will find a striking cubic pavilion that houses The Constellation, an artwork dedicated to Sheikh Zayed's memory.

Created by artist Ralph Helmick and constructed by UK-based company Stage One Creative Services, The Constellation is an awe-inspiring arrangement of 1,327 suspended geometric shapes connected by 1,110 cables. These shapes, known as 'platonic solids,' combine to form a three-dimensional portrait of Sheikh Zayed. Illuminated at night, The Constellation provides a captivating visual representation of the profound impact Sheikh Zayed had on the UAE and its people.

Visitors to The Founder's Memorial can also explore the visitor center, which offers an enriching experience through an interpretive film about Sheikh Zayed's life and his remarkable contributions. The elevated walkway surrounding the entire structure allows visitors to appreciate the memorial and its tranquil surroundings from various perspectives.
