Gallery 1988, Los Angeles

Since its establishment in 2004, Gallery1988 has gained significant recognition as an art gallery of national prominence. Situated on the renowned shopping destination of Melrose Avenue, this gallery was founded by California natives Katie Sutton and Jensen Karp. It holds the distinction of being the world's first art gallery with a primary focus on pop culture, as well as serving as a premier platform for showcasing emerging artists before they achieve widespread acclaim.

Gallery1988's exhibition openings have drawn substantial crowds, with as many as 2,500 attendees on a single night. Among these attendees have been notable celebrities, including JJ Abrams, Paul Rudd, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Seth Rogen, Guillermo Del Toro, Seth Green, Kristen Schaal, Jonah Hill, Linkin Park, Nick Kroll, and Joss Whedon, who have come to appreciate the art on display.

One of the gallery's annual exhibitions, "Crazy 4 Cult," consistently garners global media attention and receives over one million website visits on its opening reception day each year.

Gallery1988 also houses a marketing division that creates global art-focused campaigns for companies like Paramount Pictures, LOST, Breaking Bad, Marvel's The Avengers, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Sony, Cartoon Network, Mattel, and The Academy Awards. It's been lauded as a "marketing genius" by Entertainment Weekly and named "Art Gallery of the Year" by LA Weekly.

Over the past 19 years, Gallery1988 has played a crucial role in nurturing and providing a home base for a collective of artists. This platform lets art lovers buy affordable artwork from emerging artists before prices soar, cementing Gallery1988's reputation as a pop culture and art hub.
