Gare de Toulon (Toulon Train Station), Toulon

Toulon Train Station is a historic railway hub located near the city center, serving as a key gateway to the region. Originally designed by architect Laroze, the first station building featured a large industrial-style hall covering three tracks. However, this structure was lost to a fire in 1868, leading to the construction of the current station, which was completed in 1887 under the direction of architect Louis-Jules Bouchot. Its monumental facade, characterized by three grand semicircular arches, welcomes travelers into an elegant hall that has seen multiple renovations over the years.

During the 1960s, the station underwent significant changes, including the removal of its vast industrial-era hall. More recently, it has been transformed into a Multimodal Interchange Hub, expanding the passenger hall and introducing two shaded summer halls for added comfort. Despite modern upgrades, the station retains its historic charm, blending 19th-century architecture with contemporary functionality, making it a key transit point for visitors and locals alike.

Several original architectural elements have been preserved and listed as historic monuments, including the intricate woodwork, the station’s clock, and the mosaic floor, which add to its cultural significance.
