Goodall Wooten House, Austin

Goodall Wooten House, Austin

The Goodall Wooten House is an old residence that was constructed between 1898 and 1900 in Austin. It was originally built by a local doctor and philanthropist named Goodall H. Wooten and his wife Ella. This house is known for its Classical Revival architectural style and beautiful gardens.

Over the years, the building has served various purposes since it left the ownership of the Wooten family in 1944. It has been used as a dormitory for students, a facility for treating chemical dependency, and it currently operates as a high-end hotel known as "The Mansion at Judges' Hill." It received recognition for its historical significance when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 3, 1975.

The house is quite spacious, consisting of three stories along with a basement. The basement includes living quarters for servants, a game room, and storage space. On the first floor, you'll find an impressive entrance foyer, a sitting room, a music room, a dining room, and a kitchen. The second floor features four bedrooms, another sitting room, a bathroom, and a room designated for Wooten's extensive gun collection. Additionally, there is an attic that provides extra storage space.
