Musee national des arts asiatiques Guimet (Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts), Paris

The Guimet Museum was founded in 1879 by Emile Guimet, a French industrialist and traveler who collected art objects during his travels to Egypt, Greece, India, China and Japan.

Presently, the museum's collection is one of the most comprehensive collections of Asian art in Europe, with over 45,000 objects from various countries in Asia such as China, Japan, Korea, India, and Southeast Asia. Sculptures, ceramics, textiles, paintings, and other decorative objects from ancient times to the contemporary period are on display.

Housed in a historic building that was originally built for the Universal Exhibition of 1878, the museum's galleries are organized by geographic regions and themes, and visitors can explore the art and culture of various Asian countries.

In addition to its permanent collection, the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions, educational programs, and cultural events related to Asian art and culture. The library, which contains over 200,000 books and documents on Asian art and culture, is also open to the public.
