Guthrie Green, Tulsa

Guthrie Green, Tulsa

Guthrie Green officially opened in September 2012, and locals believe it is one of the best things Tulsa has ever done for itself. Previously, it had been home to a brownfield industrial site where toxic chemicals were leeching into the soil. After cleanup procedures, which included the removal of underground rusting tanks and of contaminated soil, the site has become a thriving urban park that is host to hundreds of community events each year, including fitness, food truck, weekly concerts, and Signature Events. Not just a beautiful green space that is kid- and pet-friendly, it also has fun and exciting programming every week that will appeal to all different kinds of people – from live music to movies on the lawn, craft shows, farmers market, and lawn parties.

Named in honor of musical icon Woody Guthrie, Guthrie Green's claim to fame is its abundance of green technology, taking special pride in their sustainability and energy renewal that provides water and energy to our park and surrounding buildings. While on The Dock (covered area on the north side of the park), look up! You will notice the fans, and the grid above is actually made up of solar panels that power the park. Additionally, LED lighting in all areas park reduces energy usage and contributes to the environmentally-friendly setting.
