Haigazian University, Beirut

Haigazian University is a private Armenian Evangelical higher education institution located in Beirut, Lebanon. It was founded in 1955, originally named Haigazian College. In 1992, it briefly adopted the name Haigazian University College before settling on its current name in 1996. The university provides a range of undergraduate programs in the Arts and Sciences, as well as in Business Administration and Economics. Additionally, it offers Master’s degrees in the Arts, Sciences, and Business Administration.

English serves as the primary language of instruction at Haigazian University, but it also offers some courses in Armenian and Arabic. The university’s degrees are officially recognized by the Lebanese government and the Association of International Colleges and Universities, ensuring the credibility and international acknowledgment of its academic programs.

The university started in the Webb Building, and later expanded with the Mehagian Academic Center and the Mugar Building, thanks to donations. Due to the Lebanese war, it temporarily moved to the Christian Medical Center. In 1996, it returned to its original campus. Renovation started in 1997, and classes resumed that year. Construction of a fourth building began in 2001, and another heritage building on May Ziadeh Street was finished in 2010.

Although it was originally established to cater to the educational needs of the Lebanese-Armenian community, Haigazian University is inclusive and open to all students, irrespective of their race, nationality, or creed. This inclusivity is reflected in its diverse faculty and student body, representing various segments of Lebanese society. The university's foundation and ongoing support by the Armenian Evangelical community underline its commitment to providing quality education guided by its foundational values.
