Hermann's Jazz Club, Victoria

Hermann's Jazz Club in Victoria has been a jazz hub for 40 years. It started in 1981 when German entrepreneur Hermann Nieweler and his friend Barry Stubbs brought the Al Pease Trio to the Bastion Inn on Government Street to attract a more sophisticated crowd.

The initial success led to Friday Harbor's Island City Jazz Band and Dixieland Express joining in. As popularity grew, the show moved to the hotel's mezzanine and dance floor. Hermann's passion for music and happy patrons led to the establishment of Dixieland Inn.

In 1986, Hermann moved the club to its current location on View Street, renaming it "Hermann's Jazz Club." This move was a significant milestone, offering a dedicated space for jazz lovers to enjoy top-notch performances. The club soon became a hub for local jazz musicians and fans.
