What else to buy here: Chinese Jade | Chinese Pearls.

Jade is Chinese national pride, here it's not considered just a stone, but it's believed to bring luck, chase the bad spirits away and also have curative properties when worn on the wrist as a bracelet in order to benefit the heart. This is why jade is not only a beautiful jewel or piece of art to be brought as a gift, but also an essential symbol of Chinese culture. It comes in three colors, green, white and purple. The green jade is the most popular and is supposed to be the best one, but there are different shades of green, and the darker the better quality. Prices vary consistently, depending on the quality, the color, the size and of course the kind of jewel. A typical set of necklace and earrings can be sold at anything between Y200 and Y70, but the highest quality of jade can even reach 30.000 Yuan only for a pendant.

Hongqiao International Pearl City is one of the best places for jewelry. Ma Xiang Hua, 2nd floor, shop 2019B, has high quality jade, and prices range from the Y35 for a bracelet to over a million for a pendant of Burmese green jade.
