Huaqing Hot Springs, Xian (must see)

Huaqing Pool, also known as the Huaqing Hot Springs, is a collection of hot springs situated in a region known for its pleasant climate and picturesque surroundings at the northern base of Mount Li, one of the three primary peaks of the Qinling Mountain Range. These hot springs are situated about 25 kilometers (approximately 16 miles) to the east of Xi'an, formerly known as Chang'an, which was the capital of the Tang dynasty, in Shaanxi province, China.

These springs naturally utilize geothermal heating from the area and have a rich history dating back nearly three thousand years. They have served as the site for various palaces constructed during the reigns of past Chinese dynastic rulers, including King You of the Zhou dynasty, Qin Shi Huang of the Qin dynasty, and an expanded version built during the Han dynasty under Wu Han's rule.

During the rule of the Tang emperors Taizong and Xuanzong, the latter had the complex reconstructed in 723 as a part of the Huaqing Palace. It is particularly renowned for being the supposed setting of the romantic relationship between Xuanzong and his consort Yang Guifei. Nevertheless, during the tumultuous events associated with the An Lushan rebellion, the site suffered significant damage. The current structure was reconstructed in 1959, following historical records.
