Innsbruck Central Station (Hauptbahnhof), located in the charming city of Innsbruck, is the main railway station and a crucial hub for train travel in western and central Austria. It was established in 1853 and has since become an essential part of the country's railway system. Its importance is evident from its ranking as the 8th busiest station in Austria in 2019, second only to Linz Hauptbahnhof outside Vienna. The station handles 315 train movements and around 38,500 passengers daily.

Operated by Austrian Federal Railways, Innsbruck Central Station is strategically located at the intersection of several major railway lines, including the Arlberg Railway to Bregenz, the Brenner Railway to Italy, the Mittenwald Railway to Germany, the Stubaitalbahn, and the Lower Inn Valley Railway, which runs east-west. The station is designed to handle a large volume of rail traffic, with eight through tracks. It features a ground-level "home platform" and a specialized platform for loading cars onto motorway trains, accessible from the East. Additionally, there are four bay platforms mainly serving regional passenger traffic along the Mittenwald, Arlberg, and Brenner railways.
