Architect Jean Nouvel's alluring and innovative metal-and-glass tower employs metal diaphragms in the form of square Arabic-style screens to function like a camera lens, regulating the amount of sunlight entering the building. The cultural center's layout evokes the traditional enclosed Arab courtyard, but reinterpreted to suit modern sensibilities.

The interior features a myriad of spaces that offer diverse experiences, including a museum that delves into the rich culture and religious heritage of the 22 member nations of the Arab League. Augmented by valuable contributions from the Louvre's extensive collection and private donors, the museum's impressive inventory encompasses four floors of Islamic art, ancient artifacts, ceramics, and textiles. A performance area, a sound-and-image center, a library, and a bookstore add further to the immersive experience.

Temporary exhibitions feature descriptive information and an audioguide in English. Glass elevators swiftly transport guests to the ninth floor, where the rooftop restaurant, Le Zyriab, beckons with its mint tea and some of the most exquisite vistas in Paris.

The edifice represents an exceptional feat of architecture, and from the rooftop terrace, one can relish a stunning panorama of the city, particularly towards Notre-Dame. Additionally, the building houses three Lebanese eateries.
