Jantar Mantar, Delhi
Located on Parliament Street, New Delhi, Jantar Mantar was constructed in the 18th century by Jai Singh II who was the ruler of the Kingdom of Amber, who later founded the fortified city of Jaipur. It is an observatory equipped with astronomical instruments that give you a view of the position of planets. Jai Singh II was passionate about astronomy and mathematics. He built this observatory to calculate the position of the Sun, moon and other celestial bodies. The building has huge abstract masonry instruments, which are capable of making accurate calculations of astronomical movements.
Jai Singh II himself designed all the yantras. He was honored by the Mughal Emperor with the title Sawai for his intelligence. The Sundial, also known as Samrat Yantra, is the most important attraction in Jantar Mantar. Niyati Yantra, Ram Yantra, and Misra Yantra are some other instruments found here. All instruments are made of brick and plastered with lime. They are still used by modern scientists to determine the position of celestial bodies.

It is located amidst lush gardens and is thronged by visitors who wish to spend their evenings leisurely viewing the magnificent scientific construction.
