Jardim António Borges (António Borges Garden), Ponta Delgada

António Borges Garden is a picturesque public park designed in the enchanting style of 19th-century romantic gardens. Originally the brainchild of António Borges da Câmara de Medeiros, a prominent Azorean entrepreneur and politician with a keen passion for Botany, the garden was born in the 19th century. With his vision, this space evolved into a haven for exotic flora, hosting several hundred imported species on the beautiful island of São Miguel.

Transitioning into the city's park, this sanctuary of greenery was acquired by the Municipal Council of Ponta Delgada in 1957, offering a delightful mix of recreational, cultural, and leisure activities to its visitors. It proudly holds the status of being one of the city's most expansive green areas, serving as an inviting space where vegetation from various continents harmoniously coexists. The garden's lush beauty makes it a favorite among locals and visitors, offering a serene retreat to explore and appreciate the diverse botanical wonders that it holds.
