Jevanjee Gardens, Nairobi

Jevanjee Gardens, Nairobi

Jeevanjee Gardens, located in the Central Business District of Nairobi, is an open park that was gifted to the residents of Nairobi in 1906 by Alibhai Mullah Jeevanjee, a prominent member of the Indian community in Kenya and a successful businessman. This 5-acre recreational area stands out as one of the few green spaces in Nairobi City.

What distinguishes Jeevanjee Gardens is its lush tree canopy, which offers a refreshing escape from the urban landscape that surrounds it. The tall, well-established trees create dappled shadows on the meticulously maintained lawns, providing a cool and inviting atmosphere.

The park features a number of beautifully crafted benches and sculptures, enhancing its overall charm. In 1906, the Queen Victoria statue was revealed by the Duke and Duchess of Connaught, positioned towards the park's eastern entrance along Moi Avenue. Meanwhile, on the park's western side, you'll find a statue dedicated to Alibhai Mullah Jeevanjee.

It's no surprise that this park has become a favored gathering spot for office workers from nearby buildings. During lunch breaks, you can often find them seeking shade under the trees, enjoying their meals, and catching up with colleagues and friends.
