La Cite du Vin (City of Wine Museum), Bordeaux (must see)

The City of Wine Museum is not solely for lovers of wine. This museum is a learning experience that fully immerses patrons in the culture of Bordeaux.

The permanent exhibit is 3,000 square meters, or 32,000 square feet, that fully cover the history and making of wine. Visitors will see how wine production has changed over the years. They will begin to understand the different ways wine is made and sold around the world. They will even enjoy a glass of wine for themselves.

The building is a marvel in and of itself. The modern design by architects Anouk Legendre and Nicolas Desmazières is a swirling, curving shape with reflective panels. It is meant to evoke the feelings of a grape vine or of the feeling one gets when enjoying a glass of wine. Those who prefer to avoid the interior of the museum should still plan to stop and marvel at this unique building.
