La Viña (The Vine) is a neighborhood in the historic center of the city of Cádiz, belonging to the 1st district.
The name of the neighborhood is related to its past as a place where the vine was cultivated . From the 18th century , the area began to be built, due to the strong demographic increase experienced in the city as a result of the boom in trade with America . Due to its location far from the port, it did not arouse interest among shippers to the Indies , which is why it was inhabited by popular classes dependent on the fishing activity of La Caleta beach .
