Laumeier Sculpture Park, Saint Louis
Laumeier Sculpture Park is a beautiful 105-acre open-air museum and sculpture park located in Sunset Hills, Missouri, just outside of St. Louis. Maintained in partnership with St. Louis County Parks and Recreation Department, it is home to over 60 outdoor sculptures that are placed throughout the park's grounds. Visitors can take a 1.4-mile (2.3 km) walking trail that winds its way through the park and allows for an up-close look at the sculptures, which range from the abstract to the figurative.
In addition to the outdoor sculptures, Laumeier Sculpture Park also features an indoor gallery, which houses rotating exhibitions of contemporary art. The gallery is located in an 1816 Tudor stone mansion, which was once the home of Henry and Matilda Laumeier. The mansion has been beautifully restored and provides an elegant backdrop for the artwork on display.
Laumeier Sculpture Park is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, which is a testament to the high quality of the park's exhibitions and educational programs. The park offers a wide range of educational programs for visitors of all ages, including guided tours, workshops, and lectures.
