Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum, Hong Kong

The Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb, uncovered in Hong Kong during a construction project in 1955, has since become a prominent tourist attraction. Today, it can be visited at the Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum, located in the same spot. Based on the tomb's architecture, inscriptions on tomb bricks, and discovered artifacts, it is widely believed to have been constructed during the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25 - 220), although the possibility of the Southern Dynasties period has also been suggested. It is thought to have been built for a Chinese officer affiliated with the local garrison.

In 1969, the tomb and gallery were placed under the management of the former Urban Council. Later, in 1975, the museum became a branch of the Hong Kong Museum of History and is currently overseen by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government. To honor its significance, the tomb was declared a gazetted monument in 1988, coinciding with the opening of a newly constructed exhibition hall. This hall underwent renovations in 2005 and now showcases permanent displays detailing the tomb's discovery, and characteristics, as well as bronze and pottery artifacts found within it. Visitors can also explore a 3D digital animation providing an intricate view of the tomb's interior.

Additionally, a life-sized replica of the interior of the Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb is on display at the Hong Kong Museum of History. Adjacent to the tomb, the museum features an exhibition hall exhibiting pottery and bronze artifacts excavated from the tomb site. Another exhibition in the museum explores the "Han Culture in South China."
