Linnanmäki, Helsinki

Linnanmäki, Helsinki

Linnanmäki stands as a beloved amusement park nestled in the heart of Helsinki. Its inception dates back to May 27, 1950, and it operates under the ownership of the non-profit organization, Children's Day Foundation. The primary purpose behind its operation is to generate funds for child welfare endeavors in Finland.

Renowned as Finland's premier amusement destination, Linnanmäki boasts a diverse array of rides catering to all ages. Alongside these thrilling attractions, visitors can indulge in various amusements including arcades, games, kiosks, and dining options. During the summer months, an outdoor stage comes to life with performances by various artists, adding to the park's vibrant atmosphere.

Positioned just north of Helsinki's city center, Linnanmäki occupies a picturesque hillside, offering panoramic views of the urban landscape. Despite its compact layout and absence of thematic design, the park exudes charm with its close-knit arrangement of rides and attractions. Notable among its offerings is the Peacock, a historic theater renowned for its musical productions since its construction in 1957.

Additionally, visitors have the option to explore the Sea Life aquarium, operational year-round since its opening in 2002. While the park operates from April to October, the theater and aquarium remain accessible throughout the year. Formerly, Linnanmäki also housed a museum, Linnanmäen Museo, from 1996 to 2005, hosting various exhibitions adjacent to the park's main entrance.

Presently, Linnanmäki boasts an impressive lineup of 43 rides, complemented by numerous non-ride attractions. Notably, the iconic wooden roller coaster, Vuoristorata, has stood as a symbol of the park since its inauguration in 1951. Among its collection of rides, the oldest is Karuselli, a charming carousel dating back to 1896.

With eight roller coasters and a variety of thrilling attractions including tower rides, a Ferris wheel, river rapids, and spinning rides, Linnanmäki offers something for every thrill-seeker. Additionally, it features a selection of family-friendly and kiddie rides, ensuring entertainment for visitors of all ages.
