MAST (art gallery), Bologna

Established in 2013, the MAST Foundation (Manufacture of Arts, Experimentation, and Technology) is as an esteemed international cultural and philanthropic institution, with a dedicated focus on the realms of art, technology, and innovation. Centering its efforts on nurturing the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of new generations, MAST actively collaborates with various entities to foster development and innovation. Accessible to all, the foundation resides within a versatile complex spanning 25,000 square meters, originally designated for company employees but now open to the wider community, exemplifying an ongoing experiment in harmonizing business and societal integration.

Characterized by seamless connectivity and fluidity, the multifaceted complex features diverse spaces that organically interconnect. Notably, the Gallery serves as a cornerstone, housing two distinct yet complementary components: the Innovation Gallery, a dynamic space showcasing interactive technological exhibits and video art exploring industry and labor, and the Photo Gallery, a platform for temporary photography exhibitions centered on industry and the workforce. These exhibitions draw from the extensive MAST Collection as well as external sources, including international institutions and private collections.

Integral to the architectural composition of the site, the gardens and verdant spaces, designed by landscape architect Paolo Pejrone, serve as settings for contemporary artworks. Among these, notable installations include "Reach" by Anish Kapoor, "Old Gray Beam" by Mark di Suvero, and "AMOR" by Richard Indiana.

With its beautiful views and architecture, captivating blend of artistic experiences, and interactive elements, MAST offers an enriching excursion, making it a destination well worth exploring.
