Mi Teleferico (My Cable Car), La Paz (must see)

My Cable Car (Mi Teleférico), also referred to as La Paz–El Alto Cable Car (Teleférico La Paz–El Alto), is an aerial cable car transit system that serves the metropolitan area of La Paz and El Alto in Bolivia. This system comprises 26 stations (or 36 when considering transfer stations separately for each line) along ten distinct routes: Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Orange, White, Sky Blue, Purple, Brown, and Silver. There are also additional lines and expansions in the planning or construction stages.

Back in 2014, with the completion of Phase One covering a distance of 10 kilometers (approximately 6.2 miles) this system achieved the status of being the longest aerial cable car network globally. According to its master plan, the finalized system, constructed by the Doppelmayr Garaventa Group, aims to reach an impressive length of 33.8 kilometers (around 21.0 miles) with a total of 11 lines and 30 stations. Unlike other urban cable car systems, My Cable Car uses cable cars as its main urban transit network. It received the Latam Smart City Award in 2018 for sustainable urban development and mobility.

My Cable Car was created to address problems like an inefficient transit system, expensive and time-consuming travel between La Paz and El Alto, traffic-related pollution, and rising demand for subsidized fuel. The Red, Yellow, and Purple lines now connect the once-isolated cities, which were separated by a steep 400-meter slope and winding, congested roads.
