Millennium Tower, Dubai

Millennium Tower, Dubai

You will find the Millennium Tower on Sheik Zayed Road, and even if you are not staying in this appart/hotel building, it houses several amenities that are open to non-residents.

The tower’s clients had two criteria in mind when they commissioned W.S. Atkins and partners: an aesthetic design and a functional interior. The building, which is 285 metres high, has a 20th century Art Deco design. Built of concrete and steel it has a curtain wall of non-reflecting glass in white, light grey and dark blue. Some of the windows have a 50% transparency level, so it is possible to see into some of the rooms.

The tower has a spa, a swimming pool with Jacuzzi, a fitness centre, and Executive Club for residents only and squash courts. It also has various restaurants and bars. The Crystal Bar on the ground floor is a champagne bar and cocktail lounge, offering finger-food and live music. Another bar on the ground floor, the Belgian Beer Café, serves light snacks, while the Dante Restaurant offers an exclusively Italian menu.

On the first floor you will find the Atrium Restaurant with its Venetian décor and international menu. The Toshi Restaurant on the 18th floor serves delicious Thai, Malaysian, Chinese and Japanese food. The JUZZ Bar, also on the 18th floor is a poolside bar, serving fresh fruit juice, smoothies and health-food snacks.

The ultra-modern city of Dubai did not always look the way it does now. For centuries, the city's economy relied heavily on the pearling and fishing industries. The Maktoum family, Dubai's current rulers, took over the reigns in 1883. The discovery of oil in 1966 set the change for a shift away from reliance on the marine industry.
