Mirror House, Kuwait City

The Mirror House, also known as the Khalifa & Lidia Qattan Art Museum, is a unique and captivating artistic landmark located in Kuwait City. This residence-turned-museum is the creation of Lidia Qattan, an Italian-born artist and writer, and her husband Khalifa Qattan, both recognized as intellectual pioneers in their respective artistic fields.

Lidia began transforming her home into an art project in 1972, completing it in 2006. The Mirror House features intricate mirror mosaic murals on the exterior with meaningful themes. Inside, the ground floor is entirely covered in mirror mosaics, including floors, walls, and ceilings, with themed rooms like "Planet Earth," "Zodiac," "Universe," the "Knowledge" Hall, "My World" Hall, and the "Corridor of the Nations" for visitors to explore.

The first floor of the house serves as the Qattans' Art Gallery. This section is divided into areas that showcase the thematic works of each artist. Khalifa Qattan's section includes themes like "The Egg" or "Evolution", "The Apple", "Women I Saw", and "The Prophesy" which reflects on the Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait and its aftermath. Lidia Qattan's section features galleries such as the "Art Therapy" Gallery, "Women and Society" Gallery, "Experimental" Gallery, "The Art of Recycling" Gallery, and "The Galaxy Journey" Gallery.

Additionally, the Mirror House includes a Shopping Gallery where visitors can purchase Lidia’s paintings, sculptures, jewelry, and books. This unique museum not only reflects the artistic vision of its creators but also serves as a symbol of their life’s work and passion for art, making it a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts and tourists in Kuwait City.
